AM Northwest Design Challenge

Four Apparel Design students from The Art Institute of Portland showed off their flair for fashion design in a weekly competition segment aired in January on AM Northwest on KATU in Portland, Ore. The designers received their challenges on a Monday, then set off to the Fabric Depot for materials and to the Sewing Lab on The Art Institute of Portland school to create their designs. On Fridays, the students returned to the AM Northwest set to have their work evaluated by the judges.

Art Institute Grad Hopes Videos Will Galvanize Aid for Orphans

Taking his skill with a camera and turning it into hope, Art Institute of Pittsburgh alumnus Brendan Walsh is taking a digital stand for two orphanages in Mexico and Haiti. Along with other Art Institute students and faculty, Walsh is volunteering his time and his footage to create videos for the Ciudad de Angeles orphanage website. Through Cornerbrook Studios, which he founded, Walsh hopes to one day film a documentary on international adoption policies across nations.
